Update from Susan Helton: On the Carswell family's behalf, I would like to thank St. Stephen's congregation for their overwhelming support and generous donations after the recent fire at Lakeland Apartments on Old Chapin Road in Lexington. At this time, they have enough clothing donations. If you would like to support them by making a financial donation, Mission Lexington (formerly LICS) is accepting monetary donations on their behalf. You may make a donation online using the link below and writing Carswell Family in Additional Comments.

http://missionlexingtonsc.org/donate

You may also write a check made payable to Mission Lexington and in the memo line mark Carswell Family. Checks may be mailed to Mission Lexington at 216 Harmon Street, Lexington, SC 29072. All donations to Mission Lexington are tax-deductible.

Thank you for the care, support and concern shown to the Carswell family.

Summer Sunday School will begin June 3rd! Please consider teaching a Sunday this summer! Our other teachers have done an excellent job, but they need a break! This summer we will have two classes - 2's-5K and 1st-6th! All curriculum will be provided and is easy to use! We ask that teachers do provide a snack for the children. Please sign up on the table outside the Men's Classroom.

School is almost out for summer!  If you have a gently used backpack or lunch box that you would like to donate to the homeless in our community, please place in the collection box located outside the men?s class room during the months of May and June. The backpacks and lunch boxes will be filled with toiletries and distributed to the homeless this fall. Thank you for supporting Backpacks 4 The Homeless and our community!

St. Stephen’s has received a request from the Home Works volunteer coordinator. They are looking for 10-12 folks (age 16 and up; 14 if a parent serves with you) to help complete one of their projects on Saturday. June 2nd. I know this is graduation weekend for a lot of folks, but we are hoping that some others can get together to help!! Please email me back NLT Memorial Day weekend if you are willing to help on June 2nd. I know it’s a quick turnaround, but we need to let Home Works know ASAP. Thanks for your consideration.

St. Stephen's Is Hiring a Church Sexton and We Need Your Help!

The word "Sexton" and "sacristan" both derive from the Medieval Latin word sacritanus meaning "custodian of sacred objects. A "Sexton" in the church is the officer charged with the responsibility of providing general property care and maintenance for all congregational facilities. This position will work to ensure the safety and security of the facility and the people who inhabit it. The person filling the position should be of good character, and willing to advance the ministry of the congregation by having a helpful attitude toward the members and staff. The person should be an active member of a Christian congregation, understanding the nature of Christian ministry. The person should also have a sense that this position is a ministry of the church, for and with the congregation, understanding that the duties of this position will enable members to carry out their calling to proclaim the gospel.

This is a 36 hour per week position that pays around $16 an hour.
