The Rev. Dr. Patrick W. Riddle

Pastor Pat grew up in the Tidewater area of eastern Virginia in the City of Norfolk. He was an honor graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College with a B.A. in history. He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa leadership and honor society as well a Phi Alpha Theta historical honor society.

Pastor Pat graduated from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 1985 and since has been active in parish ministry serving congregations in North and South Carolina. He received the call to serve as Senior Pastor of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in August 1999. In May of 2008, he received his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, South Carolina.

Pastor Pat is married to the former Janet Holton of West Columbia and they are the proud parents of twin daughters, Savannah and Victoria. Pat is still a history buff who spends his time reading, turkey hunting, working in the yard, and driving his old blue truck and motorcycle.

Pastor Jason is a lifelong South Carolinian, growing up in Graniteville before attending Clemson University where he graduated in May 2005 with his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental and Natural Resources with a minor in Forestry. It was during this time that he sensed and followed his call to ministry, attending Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. After his graduation from seminary in May 2009, Pastor Jason accepted his first call to serve Mt. Olivet and Mt. Hermon Lutheran Churches (aka Peak Springhill Parish) in the Chapin/Peak area outside of Columbia.

Pastor Jason is a Pastor’s kid as well, growing up at St. James Lutheran in Graniteville with his family: Rev. Barry T. Antley (Dad), Debbie (Mom), Jennifer (Sister) and Joel (Brother). While at Clemson Pastor Jason was a member of Tiger Band where he met his now wife, Kristen, whom he married in July of 2007, becoming the second generation of Antley to find their spouse in Tiger Band (Jason’s Dad and Mom also met in Tiger Band). Pastor Jason and Kristen are proud parents of twin daughters Carsyn and Peyton, two dogs, Cammey and Dabo, and a cat, Launa.

When Pastor Jason isn’t enjoying time with his family he enjoys listening to music, playing golf, and watching sports, especially his beloved Clemson Tigers.


Shannon Burnett

Shannon has a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Lander University and her Bachelor’s in Education from Newberry College. She taught in Lexington School District One for 9 years before becoming the Director of Family Life.

Shannon is originally from Lexington and a member of St. Stephen’s for over 20 years. She enjoys going to Gilbert High School athletic events where her husband, Ashley, coaches baseball. She also enjoys spending time with her daughters, Alex and Abby.


Bailey Slice Parker

Bailey received her Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education from Furman University in Greenville, SC. She participated in numerous musical ensembles there, including the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra, Marching Band, Basketball Band, Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet, and Chamber Choir.

Bailey began taking voice lessons from Hal McIntosh while in high school and continued to study with him for the duration of her college years. While at Furman, Bailey worked as section leader in the choirs of Christ Episcopal Church in Greenville. During the summer months she became involved with Canoeing for Kids - a non-profit organization providing free canoeing and kayaking experiences for under-privileged children.
 
Bailey returned to the Columbia area in 2004 and received her Master’s of Music Performance degree with emphasis on french horn from the University of South Carolina in 2006. She began her involvement with St. Stephens Lutheran Church in 2004 as the assistant children’s choir director and eventually became the Music Director.


Ruthie Brannen

Ruthie came to St. Stephen’s in 2015. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Organ Performance from Augusta Regent’s University in Augusta, GA. She was a student of Dr. John G. Schaeffer. She also holds a Music Education Teacher Certification for grades K – 12.

Ruthie has 15 years with Augusta Players as Music Director and 20 years of service as Director of Fine Arts Ministries, choir director/organist at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Augusta, GA. She served as high school choral director in Augusta, Ga for 12 years. She is the originator/conductor of German-American Choral Society and Orchestra of Munich, Germany, B.V. and an interim Choir Director/Organist at Martin Luther Kirche, Munich, Germany. She has also served as a concert organist in both Germany and the U.S.

Ruthie is currently employed with Dept. of Homeland Security at Columbia Metropolitan Airport.


Beth Haggard
Preschool Director

Beth has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Education from Newberry College with graduate work in Elementary Education. She is a former school teacher and has a part of St. Stephen’s Preschool since 1998.

Beth has worked with children from ages 2 to 18 practically all her life through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, day camps and through her chosen profession. She says the work she does at St. Stephen’s is fun and rewarding and that it is a joy to help St. Stephen's children get the educational and religious foundation they need to prepare them for their future.

Beth is married to Ralph Haggard and has two children. Her passion is traveling, but she also enjoys a good cup of coffee, gardening, reading and traveling.
