Ralph grew up in Charleston and Summerville, SC. After graduating from Summerville High School, he earned an undergraduate degree in Biology at The University of South Carolina. He received his M. Div. from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia and was ordained in 1990.
Ralph has served three congregations in SC and NC before being called as Associate Pastor at St. Stephen’s Lutheran in August 2022. He has served on SC Synod Council, the Tanzania Companion Synod Task Force, and most recently, the Faithful Innovation Task Force.
Ralph has three siblings in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and has been married to Cindy Powell Hill since 1987. Cindy is an Elementary School Counselor for Lexington District 1. They enjoy family gatherings, travel, and hiking. Their two children, Andrew and Jenna, graduated from Chapin High School and Clemson University and now reside in DC and NYC. Andrew is a Cardiologist Fellow at Georgetown University Hospital. Jenna is a Business Processor for De Beers Jewelers.
